At Last, A Luxury Event For The Deserving Woman, Indulgence.

Moccona proudly presents Indulgence, a luxury weekend event that celebrates women. Indulgence runs over Mother’s Day weekend, May 8-9, and is designed to pamper and spoil women with life’s luxuries.  From the finest cuisine by the country’s best restaurants and specialty suppliers to foot massages, life coaching and nutrition advice not to mention fashion, accessories and High Tea – Indulgence is the one-stop pamper event!

The show comprises three main sections:
Self Indulgence, where visitors can meet with consultants from local spas, beauty clinics, nutritionists and life coaches.  Co-located here is our pamper room with everything from mini-massages, to hair stylists and nail artists.  And for those who wish to know what tomorrow may bring, we have a range of local psychic and tarot card readers on hand to offer guidance.

Pure Indulgence, indulge in some of our Country’s finest cuisine from restaurants; The Grove, Mollies, Vinnies, Euro, and SidArt who will be offering visitors 2-3 of their signature dishes entrée-sized.  Other premier specialty food and beverage suppliers will be treating visitors to tasty morsels and the finest champagne, wine and drinks. Fabulous fashion items such as jewellery, homeware, electronics and other delectable gift ideas for Mum will be on offer.

Finish off with Sweet Indulgence, where chocolate, fudge and other tempting treats will be available for tasting and purchase.  With a Hot Chocolate Café, seminars, and our Paper Plus Book Store, this will be the place to relax, explore and be inspired. 

On Mother’s Day Sunday, we are especially proud to be presenting the Paper Plus Books & Bubbles High Tea, where three wonderful authors will be having a chat about their books, while guests enjoy a glass of bubbles and the ever popular High Tea. 

Top it all off with a ‘Gentleman’s Retreat’ for him, and a dedicated zone for the kids and you have the perfect destination for Mum for her special weekend.

Indulgence has a range of ticketing options from General Entry to ‘Gift Packages’ which can include tickets and gifts such as chocolate, magazine subscriptions, as well as gift vouchers for her to cash in and spend on the day.  Paper Plus Books & Bubbles High Tea seat numbers are strictly limited.

Mollies – Different Faces of Indulgence

Auckland’s only Relais & Châteaux boutique hotel, Mollies, brings a fresh approach to Indulgence when its chefs join the cream of the city’s restaurants at the Ellerslie Convention Centre on Mothers’ Day weekend. 

Mollies’ team joins Euro, The Grove, SidArt and Vinnies to create tastes of extravagance and elegance at the Indulgence show.  However the hotel’s two-man team brings an enviably different palette to titillate the tastebuds of discerning mums and other indulgence seekers.

Head Chef Lance Tripp brings his love of Asian flavours and cross-cultural cuisine to the plate. With ten years’ experience in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland, he especially enjoys working with fresh seafood and holds flavour paramount in his dishes.  Consequently Lance is cautious about “techno” food.  “While we do use elements like ‘soils’ and foams, I believe some of the techniques can compromise flavour.”  For Lance, whether a dish shows his “loud and colourful” side, or the quieter face of sophisticated cuisine, it must be true to taste and texture.

Sous chef Michael Meissner will partner Lance Tripp in realising Mollies’ Indulgence dishes. Michael knows how to indulge the senses – he was restaurant head chef of The Lenkerhof, Europe’s best spa hotel and winner of the 2005 Gault Milleau Hotel of the Year.   Meissner understands classical European cuisine, presented in a healthy, spa environment.  This is a perfect combination of experience, as Mollies will also bring the hotel’s Dermalogica spa treatments to the Indulgence show.

Meissner believes many New Zealand restaurants could be more adventurous and individual. “When you taste food you should fall in love with it; there should be exploding senses in your mouth.  From us you can expect things that other restaurants simply don’t have; it’s more time-consuming but we want to take the chance to show what we can do.”  With a love of pastry, and a background that includes cooking on the Queen Mary II, in Hawaii and in the Carribean, his influences are diverse and truly international.

One thing the two chefs share, in addition to their commitment to quality, is the need to keep the plate focussed and the food uncluttered.  “While the first impression is visual and should be a ‘wow’, nothing should be over-handled or too complicated,” says Lance.  “We would rather do something simpler, and do it well.”

Indulge your cravings… we have New Zealand’s finest chocolatiers and pastry chefs offering meticulously crafted sweet delights for the most discerning of palates.  This floor includes our Chocolate Café and will feature demonstrations and workshops throughout the weekend.  Sweet Indulgence offers sampling, onsite consumption and exquisite take-home gifts that truly celebrate the sweetness of life.

Self Indulgence
